Band Camp 2024 starts on July 29!

This year’s two-week band camp runs: Week 1: Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2th, from 8 am – 12 pm.  Week 2: Monday, August 5 to Friday, August 9, from 8 am – 5 pm; August 9 only, 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Lunch break from 12pm – 1pm daily (lunch is provided by Music Boosters). Band Camp is for all students who will be participating in Marching Band & Color Guard in the upcoming school year. Attendance at both weeks of Band Camp is required. Students are taught the basics of marching, and the Band and Color Guard begin to learn the field show that will be performed at home football games and in competitions during the fall season. Students should arrive prepared for hot weather. The following are required daily at Band Camp, starting from the first day: Instrument Hat with at least a bill (EVERYONE wears a hat) Sunscreen 1 gallon water bottle ATHLETIC shoes with a flexible sole (e.g., no flip-flops, no boots) lightweight t-shirt shorts or athletic pants (no jeans) pencil positive attitude & a desire to strive for excellence! New students, please sign up for the Band App to receive the up-to-date notifications from Dr. Simonsen and your band officers. Parent Meet & Greet, Info Session & Show Preview

2024 Parent Meet & Greet, Information Session & Show Preview Fri, Aug 9, 2024, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, @SPHS On the last day of Band Camp, the teaching team (Dr. Simonsen – Marching Band & Guard, Mr. Orindgreff – Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz bands, and Mr. Padron – Orchestra) and Music Boosters will host our annual Meet & Greet informational session on the SPHS Tiger Patio. All Instrumental Music Program parents are invited to come out to meet the new teaching team, ask any questions about the upcoming year in Instrumental Music, and learn more about the important roles parents play in supporting their kids and the overall program. Following the information session, the group will head over to the stadium and get a sneak peak of a part of the field show that the students have learned during Band Camp!!

Annual Spaghetti Dinner Night Concert & Fundraiser – Returning in 2025!

Spaghetti Dinner Night Concert and Fundraiser 2025, details will be posted here as the event approaches.  This event is a beloved tradition in our community, featuring delicious spaghetti dinner, accompanied by live musical performances from our talented student musicians. In addition to the entertainment, we will be holding a silent auction with a variety of items, including gift certificates, handmade crafts, and one-of-a-kind experiences. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Instrument Music Program at South Pasadena High School. Whether you’re a music lover, foodie, or just enjoy coming together with friends and neighbors for a good cause, this event is for you. Call for 2024-25 Volunteers!!

Please consider volunteering this year with the Music Boosters! Join a fun and friendly community of volunteers working to support our amazing musicians & guard. It’s fun! Volunteers are needed for Tiger Bingo, Snack Stand, and Competitions. Links are provided below that take you directly to the various sign-up pages. Thank you for your support! Tiger Bingo:  Volunteers are needed the first Saturday of each month to sell flash games to patrons, generating funds that come back directly to the band. Sign up here. Snack Stand: Volunteers are needed to help set-up/clean-up, prep food, and run the registers to sell concessions at Home football games. Sign up here. Competitions: Volunteers are needed for Saturday competition days to chaperone students, help with equipment transport, and pickup/serve meals to students.
