Mark your calendars! This year’s two-week band camp runs
- Monday, July 25th to Friday, July 29th, from 8:00am – 12:00pm;
- Monday, August 1st to Friday, August 5th, from 8:00am – 5:00pm (Lunch provided by Music Boosters)
Band Camp is for all students who will be participating in marching band in the upcoming school year. Attendance at Band Camp is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged. Students, especially Freshmen, are taught the basics of marching, and the band and Color guard begin to learn the field show that will be performed at home football games and in competitions during the Fall season.
Band Camp will be held on the SPHS campus. Students should bring water, sunscreen, and a hat as it is very hot on the field. See you there!
Update (July 24, 2022) from Avik (Drum Major):
As you may know, we have band camp starting tomorrow July 25th! As stated in an earlier post, for this first week (July 25-29), the learning portion of band camp will take place from 8 AM to 12 PM.
During this first week, we will also be having UNITY GAMES from 12 PM to 12:30 PM, so we encourage you all to stay for the extra 30 minutes to get to know your band.
Here is a list of things to bring for the first week:
-reusable water bottle
-sunscreen
-hat and sunglasses
-folder
–MASKS (we will be required to wear them indoors)
Band camp tends to heat up throughout the day, especially on the field, so dress accordingly. During this first week lunch will not be provided, so bring small snacks if you feel that you may get hungry during the day. We will be receiving music throughout this first week, but will not be required to bring instruments. RETURNERS be prepared to bring your instruments on Wednesday (July 27th), so we can start using them on the field.
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!!
Water donations are needed: water in cases could be very heavy and we would be grateful if everyone can share the labor. We can certainly reimburse the cost. Please drop off at the Band room preferably in the early morning. Parent volunteers are also needed in the second week to serve lunch.
